l studied piano, violin and voice from an early age, before reading Electroacoustics at university.
I’ve always enjoyed being where the arts and sciences meet, and for many years I followed a dual career in both acoustics and music; one day using 3D modelling to design performing arts spaces, the next, putting the theory into practice when placing microphones for a recording session.
I loved the variety but eventually settled on music full-time, although I’m delighted to still be a part of the acoustics firm that I founded in 2000, Cass Allen Associates, and keep my hand in with the occasional acoustics project.
Over the years I’ve been very fortunate to work with many wonderful artists in venues around the world and have been able to follow my passion for both the audio and the visual arts.
I have regularly performed for pleasure in bands/choirs, and composed for small-scale theatre/film productions. Recently I was invited to step out completely from behind the microphones to release two albums of my solo piano compositions on the Blue Cloud Music label.
I often hear recordings that I’ve made for other artists played on the radio, but having one of my own compositions played on BBC Radio 3 and passing 2 million streams for my first album were both very encouraging moments and I‘m grateful to all at Blue Cloud for making this possible!
